The passenger services of all regional branches of the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) were transferred to the newly created passenger division of Ukrzaliznytsia on July 1. Ukrzaliznytsia’s director of passenger transportation and services Ihor Romankov announced this in an interview with the CFTS portal.

It was previously reported that the newly created passenger division would include only the assets of three of the six regional branches of Ukrzaliznytsia.

The passenger transportation assets of the South-Western Railway were the first to be transferred to the new division. The assets and liabilities of other regional railways, the Ukrainian High-Speed Rail Company, and others were expected to be transferred to the passenger division over a few months. This phase of creation of the passenger division was expected to be completed before 1 July 2017.

The passenger division’s management structure will be divided into repair, operations, and commercial before the end of 2017. In the fifth and final phase of its creation, the passenger division will transform into an independent company (a private joint-stock company called “Passenger Company") by 2020.
