The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) will repair Polish-made Pesa railbuses at the Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant’s facilities.

The Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant’s Director Oleh Holovaschenko announced this to the CFTS portal.

According to him, two such trains are already at the plant, and a total of 10-12 will need to be repaired.

"Since we have no experience with such rolling stock but have a great desire, we have enlisted the manufacturer’s support and help," Holovaschenko said.

"The first train has already been driven to the border with Poland, where we have performed a defect inspection jointly with Pesa specialists and determined which ones the Kyiv Electric Car Repair Plant can repair itself and for the repair of which it will require help. These turned out to be about 30-40%, but we plan to reduce this percentage with each new train and eventually perform all such repairs ourselves," Holovaschenko said.

As reported earlier, only 4 of the 14 Pesa railcars operated by Ukrzaliznytsia were in working order as of 2021. At the time, Ukrzaliznytsia and the Polish manufacturer began reaching agreements on cooperation in upgrading diesel trains.
