The Solidarity Trade Union of Individual Farmers (Poland) has announced that it plans to completely block all the border crossings on the Polish-Ukrainian border from 20 February, the CFTS portal reports.

According to representatives of Solidarity, the general strike of farmers, which will last 30 days, has "unprecedented support from the agrarian community and the Polish society."

"As part of the 30-day general strike of farmers, we announce that all protest activities will be focused on a complete blockade of all border crossings between Poland and Ukraine and protests in the field," Solidarity said in a statement.

In particular, according to the statement, not only border crossings, but also communication hubs and access roads to transshipment railway stations and seaports, will be blocked.

"The problem of the profitability of agricultural production, processing, and other industries in our country is the uncontrolled inflow of goods from Ukraine, which are imported because of the opening of the EU border with this country," the statement said.
