Georgia is planning to construct 18 km rail line to projected deep-water port Anaklia. The first trains, both passenger and freight, will run on the line in 2019.
Moreover, the project includes the modernization of the existent tracks as well as construction of six tunnels with 2 km total length.
The construction of deep-water port Anaklia worth at USD 2.5 billion will start this year in the North-Western part of Georgia. It will be the largest and the deepest port of the country. The project is carrying out by Anaklia Development Consortium, a joint venture between Georgia-based TBC Holding and US-based Conti International.
