The head of the State Road Agency (Ukravtodor), Oleksandr Kubrakov, has spoken about the progress of road repair and construction work in the country as of early April.
Kubrakov spoke during an online conference on “Major Construction Projects during the Quarantine,” the CFTS portal reports.
According to Kubrakov, construction of 40% of the facilities that were planned for this year has already begun.
"The financing of the ‘Major Construction’ program is not decreasing. Draft amendments to the 2020 state budget were signed just yesterday. Articles related to road construction were not amended, which means that financing will continue in full," he said.
In addition, Kubrakov said that construction of a road to Stanytsia Luhanska would begin that week. “The main thing that will start this week is the road to Stanytsia Luhanska. There are several sections, but the total length will be 130 kilometers and we are beginning construction of this road today,” he said.
According to the head of Ukravtodor, the plan is to complete this road by mid-July.
In addition, according to Kubrakov, construction work on the H-31 Highway (Dnipro-Reshetylivka) and the H-30 Highway (Vasylivka-Berdiansk) is currently underway. “The H-31 is a highway that is already in operation. There are 29 kilometers on which no work is being performed because a feasibility study is still being prepared, but we understand that the task is to complete this road this year and we are following the plan. Regarding the H-30 Vasylivka-Berdiansk, some roads are being commissioned now. We hope that this road will be open when the quarantine ends and the tourist season arrives," he said.
The head of Ukravtodor also said that the main construction project this year is a bridge in the city of Zaporizhia. "We are currently awaiting permission from the GABI to allow us to begin work," he said.
According to Kubrakov, the "Major Construction" program will create 150,000 jobs. “Speaking of the entire project, which will be financed with UAH 75 billion, about 150,000 jobs with an average salary of about UAH 16,000 will be created in the road industry and related industries,” he said.
The head of Ukravtodor noted that the government recently adopted an additional resolution that allows state-guaranteed funds to be raised for financing construction projects.
