The Russian Transport Ministry has ordered closure of the Russian airspace to Ukrainian airlines from 25 October, the TASS news agency reports, citing the press service of the ministry.
"The Russian Transport Ministry has instructed the federal air transport agency (Rosaviatsiya) to notify Ukrainian airlines operating or planning to operate flights to destinations in the Russian Federation of termination of the use of Russian airspace from 25 October," the Russian Transport Ministry said in a statement.
The decision to close the airspace was made at the request of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
