A pre-trial investigation has been opened in connection with a Russian missile attack on the Zaporizhia airport terminal.
The Prosecutor General's Office announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
“Under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been opened in connection with the criminal case of violation of the laws and customs of war (Section 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the statement said.
Russian soldiers attacked a civilian infrastructure facility in Zaporizhia at about 16:00 on May 25, 2024. An enemy missile destroyed the airport terminal building.
According to the Southern Operational Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the terminal was hit by a Kh-59 missile.
The terminal began handling passengers in October 2020. In its first year of operation, the Zaporizhia airport handled more than half a million passengers.
