The Illichivsk seaport’s head Serhii Kryzhanovskyi recently announced that the seventh capesize-class vessel in 2016 was expected to call at the seaport in late June. The seaport has also said that it intends to increase the speed and volume of transshipment of iron-ore concentrate and other bulk cargo. To this end, it is implementing investment programs for development of port waters and reconstruction of berths. According to Kryzhanovskyi, the seaport aims to reach a handling volume of more than 500,000 tons of iron-ore concentrate per month.
The Illichivsk seaport handled 1.42 million tons of ore cargoes in the first five months of 2016.
