The State Aviation Service of Ukraine lifted the restrictions on the operation of remotely piloted aircraft without prior approval. Drones weighing up to 20 kilograms can now be flown at altitudes of up to 120 meters. However, the range of flights within the Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) will be unlimited.

The previous version of the rules for using Ukraine's airspace prohibited operation of drones weighing 2 kilograms or more without prior approval.

The new changes were announced by Andrii Huk, a partner at the Ante law firm, who received the relevant official letter from the State Aviation Service. According to him, the Ministry of Justice has already registered the new version of the rules and it will be published soon.

Operation of drones over large crowds of people and densely built-up areas is still banned.

As reported earlier, the temporary procedure for use of drones came into force on June 1, 2018.
