The Tatra-Yug company, Ukrainian tram manufacturer, won the tender for supplying 15 trams to Egypt city of Alexandria. The signing of the contract was held on February 6 in Egypt while the bid was accepted at the beginning of the year.

The 22-metre long two-section trams will be high-floor and air-conditioned. According to Tatra-Yug, these requirements were basic for Egypt customer.

The vehicles will be delivered within 2.5 years from the date of prepayment by the Egyptian side.

Six tram manufacturers were biddibg in a tender. Only three of them remained in the second round: Tatra-Yug (Ukraine), Stadler (Switzerland) and CRRC (China). Before the decision the Egyptian delegation had visited production facilities of Tatra-Yug, which are located on the territory of the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipro city.

The Tatra-Yug company was founded in 1993 in cooperation with CKD Tatra, Czech manufacturer. The company achieved localization of production to 95%. The main market for Tatra-Yug are Ukrainian tram systems. The company's vehicles run in 22 cities of Ukraine.
