Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has been granted permission to increase the frequency of its flights between Kyiv and Warsaw from 14 to 21 per week. This will allow the carrier to increase the frequency of its daily flights between the capitals of Poland and Ukraine from two to three times per day.
The decision to grant the permission was made at a meeting of the relevant commission of the State Aviation Service on Tuesday, February 27, the CFTS reports.
Information about additional flights to Warsaw is not yet available on the website of UIA. Launch of the flights will enable the airline to compete with the LOT airline (Poland) for direct passenger flights between the two cities, as well as to attract transit passengers actively.
As reported, UIA and LOT currently operate flights between Kyiv (Boryspil) and Warsaw twice a day. LOT also operates one daily flight to and from the Kyiv-Zhulyany airport. The carrier plans to launch a second daily flight from this airport in the summer.
