Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) intends to expand its network of long-haul flights. The company’s Vice President for Commerce Serhii Fomenko announced this at a press conference on the launch of a Kyiv-Ankara flight.
"There is a competition among routes. We have a department that deals with development of networks. For now, Shanghai is leading in terms of expansion of the network. We have big plans for the United States, namely Chicago. We have plans for Canada and we are now thinking about the African continent," said Fomenko.
To expand its network, the airline will require more long-haul aircraft. According to the company's vice president for commerce, this is why the company intends to double the number of long-haul aircraft in its fleet within five years. The UIA currently has four such aircraft.
