Under the USAID Economic Resilience Activity (ERA), which the USAID is implementing jointly with the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia), the contractor Mashservis Trading House LLC installed the final two sets of bogie-exchange lifts (four lifts each) at the Mostyska II - Medyka rail crossing point on the Ukrainian-Polish in late July.

USAID announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

Bogie-exchange lifts are used to efficiently change bogies to move trains and wagons from the wider gauge (1520 mm) used in Ukraine to the standard gauge (1435 mm) used in Europe and vice versa.

The first three sets of bogie-exchange lifts were installed in June. In total, five sets consisting of a total of 20 units of bogie-exchange lifts have already been installed at this rail border crossing. The five sets of bogie-exchange lifts at the Mostyska II - Medyka railway border crossing will potentially increase the throughput capacity to 40 wagons per day.

Earlier this year, ERA provided the Mostyska II border crossing point with 27 pieces of ICT equipment and one 50-kW generator.
