Ukraine intends to supply 1,500 railcars to Turkmenistan, and supply of 750 of them has already been put out to tender. The press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing, and Utility Services announced this in a statement, RIA Novosti reports.

"During a meeting with [Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan] Satlik Satlikov, [Deputy Prime Minister] Hennadii Zubko agreed plans to supply 1,500 railcars to Turkmenistan, of which supply of 750 has already been put out to tender," the press service said.

A Turkmen expert commission is now studying the possibility of supply of the railcars from the Kryukov Railcar Building Works. According to the press service, Turkmenistan is interested in deliveries of nonstandard railcars and vehicles from Ukraine. These railcars will be used on a railway along the TAPI gas pipeline.

During his visit to Turkmenistan, Zubko also said that Ukraine was ready to participate in the implementation of a project involving construction of a Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline. In particular, the Zorya-Mashproekt plant (Mykolaiv) and the Sumy NPO may participate in the project.

The pipeline should have a length of 1,735 kilometers, of which more than 700 kilometers will be on the territory of Afghanistan. The pipeline will have a capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The cost of the project is about USD 30 billion, which is to be provided by the United States and the Asian Development Bank. Construction is expected to be completed before the end of December 2018.
