The parliament adopted the draft law on ratification of the agreement on air transport between Ukraine and the United States by 235 votes on Wednesday, 4 November, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced.
The ratification of the document completed the internal procedures necessary for the agreement to enter into force.
As reported, the United States Undersecretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Catherine Novelli and Infrastructure Minister Andrii Pyvovarskyi signed an agreement on liberalization of the air transport market between the two countries on 14 July 2015. "This agreement strengthens bilateral economic ties and facilitates the growth of civil aviation between the United States and Ukraine. IT is an example of the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries," the United States embassy in Ukraine said at the time.
The agreement promotes increased travel and trade, enhances productivity, and spurs high-quality job opportunities and economic growth. It serves to eliminate government interference in commercial airline decisions about routes, capacity, and pricing and allow carriers to provide more affordable, convenient, and efficient air service to consumers.
United States has signed similar agreements with more than 115 countries.
