Terminals at Ukrainian seaports increased transshipment of grain by 13.8% to 32.92 million tons in the period of January-November this year, compared with the same period last year. This is indicated by operational data from the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine (ASU).
State stevedoring companies handled 3.308 million tons of grain cargoes at the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine’s berths (a 1.1% reduction compared with the volume they handled in January-November 2014) while private stevedoring companies handled 15.29 million tons at the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine’s berths (a 38.4% increase) and 14.323 million tons (a 1.5% reduction) at their own berths.
The leading seaport in terms of transshipment volume was the Yuzhny seaport (it increased transshipment by 10.4% to 8.849 million tons), followed by the Nikolayev seaport (27% increase to 7.834 million tons) and the Odessa seaport (32.7% increase to 7.745 million tons). More than 1 million tons of grain was handled at the Ilyichevsk seaport (a 10.2% increase to 4.403 million tons) and the Oktyabrsk seaport (a 6.5% increase to 2.039 million tons).
The Berdyansk seaport handled 887 million tons of grain (2.2% reduction), the Kherson seaport 516,000 tons (18.3% reduction), the Mariupol seaport 253,000 tons (42.9% reduction), the Reni seaport 239,000 tons (59.2% reduction), the Izmail seaport 131 million tons (2.2-fold increase), the Ust-Dunaysk seaport 15,000 tons (57.9% reduction), and the Skadovsk seaport about 10,000 tons (2.2-fold increase).
