The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDP) has launched the operations of 23 barges since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s war on Ukraine, the CFTS portal reports, citing the GMK Center.

"Previously, the barges were idling without documents, but we have managed to put them into operation and put them under the Ukrainian flag in a fairly short time through joint efforts with the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure," UDP’s acting Director Dmytro Moskalenko said.

Currently, 13 other barges are going through the process of obtaining ship's papers similarly and they will be included in the fleet in the near future.

"The river fleet is currently operating at full capacity. We have switched to short trips, as a result of which each caravan performs an average of two trips per month instead of 60 days in the past. As we put additional tonnage into operation, the capacity is increasing," he said.
