Cargo transshipment at Ukrainian river ports reduced by 5.4% to 3.07 million tons in the period of January-August, compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to data from the State Statistics Service.

Exports increased by 19.9% to 1.66 million tons and imports by 17% to 252,000 tons. Cabotage reduced by 29.6% to 1.15 million tons and transit by 40.2% to 8,000 tons.

Thus, a total export cargo accounted for 54.1% of the total volume of cargo handled by river ports, cabotage 37.5%, and import 8.2%.

Overall, according to the State Statistics Service, the turnover of Ukrainian river ports accounted for 3.1% of the total turnover of sea and river ports in Ukraine in the period of January-August this year while the turnover of seaports accounted for 96.9% or 95.63 million tons.

In total, Ukrainian sea and river ports handled 98.697 million tons of cargo in the period of January-August 2015.
