Ukrainian seaports handled 7.79 million tons of grain cargoes (including 7.648 million tons of grain) in January-March 2015, which is 9.5% lower than they handled in the same period in 2014. APK Inform reported this, citing data from the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine.
State stevedoring companies handled 923,210 tons of grain cargoes at the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine’s berths (-17.2% compared with the volume they handled in January-March 2014), private stevedoring companies handled 3.27 million tons at the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine’s berths (+14.3%), and stevedoring companies handled 3.6 million tons at their own berths (-22.4%).
The Yuzhny port transshipped 2.1 million tons of grain cargoes in the reporting period, which is 3.7% less than the volume it transshipped in the same period last earlier. The Odessa seaport transshipped 1.78 million tons of grain cargos (-0.1%), the Nikolayev seaport 1.77 million tons (+10.7%), the Ilyichevsk seaport 1.24 million tons (-2.8%), the Oktyabrsk seaport 426,200 tons (-34.6%), the Kherson seaport 163,100 tons (-46%), and the Berdyansk seaport 161,700 tons (-14.6%).
In addition, the Mariupol port handled 65,800 tons of grain cargoes (-49.3%) and the Reni port 58,800 tons (-64.1%).
