The State Automobile Road Service (Ukravtodor) is considering the possibility of issuing Eurobonds in 2020 to raise funds for financing for construction of roads of national importance.
Ukravtodor’s head Oleksandr Kubrakov stated this in an interview with the CFTS portal.
According to Kubrakov, this approach to financing construction of roads is possible.
Kubrakov noted that the parliament recently voted for two bills that are important to Ukravtodor. These bills provide for amendment of the Budget Code and the state budget for 2020.
"These bills give us the opportunity to raise additional funds in foreign markets. We are considering various options, one of which is to issue Eurobonds. We will still consult with the Ministry of Finance on when and how best to do this. For now, we are planning to do it at the end of the first half of the year," Kubrakov said.
On January 16, the Ukrainian parliament adopted the bills No. 2661 and No. 2660, which allow an additional UAH 20 billion in extra-budgetary funds to be raised in 2020 for financing road repairs.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Ukraine plans to repair 4,000-6,000 kilometers of roads of state and local significance in 2020.
