The State Automobile Road Service (Ukravtodor) intends to fight informal reward of companies for winning tenders for performance of road works.
"We have clearly declared that the rate of kickbacks in the budget estimate for repair and construction of roads in Ukraine is 0%. How quickly will we be able to apply this principle throughout our complex vertical structure? We will try to do it as quickly as possible,” Ukravtodor’s head Oleksandr Malin said at a press conference on Tuesday, the CFTS correspondent reports.
He added that there are no untouchables and that any official caught red handed will be prosecuted.
"On the one hand, the fact that there are no resources and therefore nothing to steal simplifies the situation for us. On the other hand, there are serious credit obligations. There are debts from 2010, 2011, and 2012. We are holding an open dialogue with businesses, saying that if these sums contain those corrupt obligations that were imposed on you and which there is actually nobody to pay now, then let us jointly redraft the cost estimates and reduce the size of the state's obligations on these debts at least to the amount of these corruption obligations," said Malin.
At the same time, he admitted that it is impossible to defeat such a phenomenon as corruption and that its level can only be reduced
