Plants belonging to the Ukrainian Railways public joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) built 2,333 gondola cars from the beginning this year to December 15. Ukrzaliznytsia’s acting Board Chairman Yevhen Kravtsov announced this during Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian’s end-of-year press conference in Kyiv on Friday, December 15.
In addition, according to a presentation by the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, the railway company has acquired 65 container flatcars and 25 gondola cars this year.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia bought 25 gondola cars from the Popasna railcar repair plant with funds generated from indexation of freight tariffs.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s enterprises had produced 2,200 gondola cars as of December 1. This figure was 2,100 the previous week.
In total, Ukrzaliznytsia planned to produce 3,000 gondola cars this year, but it repeatedly faced difficulties during tenders for supply of components during the year.
