The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) has invited tenders for the supply of 44 new passenger railcars.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
"We continue to upgrade the passenger rolling stock, and we are announcing a tender for the supply of 20 compartment cars, 12 sleeping cars, 9 couchette (Platzkart) cars, and 3 cars designed to carry passengers with disabilities," the statement said.
The railcars will be equipped with air conditioning, changing tables, controlled lighting, power outlets, USB ports, coffee machines, and a video surveillance system.
The compartment and sleeping cars will be equipped with alarm systems and door locks, while the cars for transporting passengers with disabilities will be equipped with wheelchair lifts (platform lifts) for boarding passengers.
Ukrzaliznytsia expects to take delivery of the new railcars by the end of 2025.
As the CFTS portal reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to purchase 100 additional railcars in 2024, using funds from the state budget.
