The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) intends to open railway links at three more border crossings “in the western direction” to expand the railway throughput.

Valery Tkachev, the deputy director of Ukrzaliznytsia’s department of commercial operations, announced this during a meeting with representatives of the grain market, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Rail Insider publication.

"Regarding expansion of the western border crossings, we are also working in this direction. We have launched Berezyne - Basarabeasca, now we are considering Hrebenne - Rava-Ruska and Strazhava - Kroscienko (Poland), as well as Dilove - Valea Viseului (Romania). These four border crossings are specifically aimed at expanding the railway throughput," he said.

As reported earlier, freight trains resumed operation on the Berezyne - Basarabeasca route between Ukraine and Moldova on 22 August. It was also announced that traffic from the Rava-Ruska station to Warsaw would be established by Independence Day.

In addition, as the CFTS portal reported, Ukrainian and Polish railway workers continue working on the restoration of tracks on the Khyriv - Nyzhankovychi - Malhowice - Przemysl route.
