The Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company repaired 17,439 freight cars in the period of January-July this year. This figure was 14,200 freight cars in the same period of 2015, the CFTS reports, citing data from Ukrzaliznytsia.
In particular, Ukrzaliznytsia repaired 9,165 gondola cars, 3,054 grain carriers, and 597 universal platforms during January-July this year. The company plans to repair an additional 12,508 freight cars before the end of the year.
Freight cars are repaired at the Darnytsia railcar repair plant, the Stryi railcar repair plant, the Paniutynskyi railcar repair plant, and the Refrigerated Railcar Company.
As the CFTS reported in July, 470 damaged freight cars were uncovered on the Prydniprovska Railroad in the first six months of 2016.
Most of the railcars (257) were damaged because of violation of the relevant standard during their unloading and others were damaged as a result of derailment (123 cars), violations of technical loading conditions (55 cars), etc.
