The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) plans to produce more than 4,000 freight cars at its rail manufacturing plants in 2021.

This was announced by Ukrzaliznytsia’s head Volodymyr Zhmak, the CFTS portal reports.

On Ukrzaliznytsia plans to restart its railcar manufacturing facilities, Zhmak said, "We have ambitious plans to produce 4,200 cars and overhaul 15,000-20,000 cars at our factories next year".

Earlier, the head of Ukrzaliznytsia announced at a press conference that the company intended to allocate UAH 7 billion for modernization of its fleet of freight cars in 2021, including UAH 4.8 billion of its own money.

21 cars were built at Ukrzaliznytsia’s railcar manufacturing plants in 2019, including 20 gondola cars and a grain carrier. Ukrzaliznytsia produced about 3,000 freight cars in 2018; Ukrzaliznytsia’s enterprises produced 2,606 gondola cars in 2017.
