The Transport Logistics Center, a division of the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia), has signed a contract with the Moldovan railway operator Calea Ferată din Moldova (CFM), under which Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to provide a range of services involving the organization of freight transportation in transit through Moldova to all destinations.
Ukrzaliznytsia announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
"With the new contract, we have placed on record an agreement on providing a full range of services involving the transportation of freight in transit through Moldova by Ukrzaliznytsia. From now on, the shipper will receive a ‘single-window’ service and will not need to conclude separate contracts for wagon rental and freight forwarding or search for a counterparty; we will provide a comprehensive transportation service through the territories of both Ukraine and Moldova," said Viacheslav Yeriomin, a member of Ukrzaliznytsia’s board.
According to him, this will enable Ukraine to strengthen its export capabilities and increase the volume of transportation of strategically important export cargo.
To obtain the above-mentioned services, shippers need to conclude agreements on the provision of freight forwarding services.
The terms and conditions of the provision of the services and possible discounts will be stipulated in the protocol of agreement of a contract price between the customer and the Transport Logistics Center.
As reported earlier, Ukrzaliznytsia has offered cargo owners a service involving the transportation of containers on intermodal unit trains to the Polish seaport of Gdańsk from four Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, and Vinnytsia.
