The Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) transported 14.5 million tons of cargo in February 2024. This is a record for the period since the full-scale invasion.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, this is 30% more than the volume of cargo it transported in February 2023 and 3% more than the volume of cargo it transported in January 2024, the CFTS portal reports.

The volume of transportation of export cargo increased by 53% compared with February 2023.

The company transported 5.2 million tons of cargo through port stations and 2.6 million tons through Ukraine’s western border crossings in February 2024. Out of this volume, 2.8 million tons of grain cargo were transported through port stations and 537,000 tons through border crossings.

It transported over 5.8 million tons of cargo domestically, which is 6% more than the volume in February 2023. The volume of import cargo transportation increased by 65% to 872,400 tons compared with February 2023.

For comparison, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 11.2 million tons of cargo in February 2023, 22.3 million tons in February 2022, and 21.8 million tons in February 2021.

Since the beginning of the war, the record months for Ukrzaliznytsia were November 2023 and January 2024, when it transported 14.1 million tons.
