The transport revenues of the State Railway Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia) reduced by 5.8% to UAH 36.2 billion in the period of January-October 2013, compared with the corresponding period of 2012. The Interfax Ukraine news agency reported this, citing the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Passenger transportation remains unprofitable: Ukrzaliznytsia’s losses from passenger transportation totaled UAH 5.35 billion in January-October 2013, including UAH 2.9 billion in losses from suburban passenger transportation.
Ukrzaliznytsia said that freight transportation reduced by 4.7% to 364.7 million tons and that transportation of transit freight reduced by 19.7% to 27.99 million tons during this period.
Railways transported 409.7 million passengers, which is 0.3% fewer than the number transported last year.
