The An-22 Antheus aircraft has resumed commercial operation. The aircraft performed its first commercial flight on 30 June after completion of restoration work, the CFTS reports.

The An-22 aircraft flew from Kyiv to Leipzig as part of commercial charter flights operated by Antonov Airlines. The airline is hoping to increase its operating efficiency by using this unique aircraft, which is capable of carrying loads of up to 60 tons.

The An-22 Antheus is a wide-body, turboprop transport aircraft that has set 41 world records. In total, 68 An-22 airplanes were produced.

As reported, the An-22 aircraft took to the air for the first time since 2009 on 12 February. The aircraft’s registration number is UR-09307.

The An-22 Antheus aircraft were produced from 1966 to 1976. One An-22 Antheus is on the books of the Antonov state aircraft manufacturing enterprise and seven are in operation in Russia.
