The volume of transportation of export and import cargoes through the overland crossing points on Ukraine’s western border reached 2.29 million tons in June, which is 17.4% more than the volume in May.

Ukraine’s Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced this during a presentation at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano (Switzerland), the CFTS portal reports, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.

According to him, 1.45 million tons of cargo passed through the ports on River Danube last month. This is 9% more than the volume in the previous month.

Compared with March, the volume of freight transported by road through the crossing points increased 2.6-fold and the volume transported on River Danube increased 3.7-fold. 

According to the presentation, the volume of transportation of freight by rail reduced by 2.1% to 9.43 million tons in June, compared with May, but increased by 13.7% compared with March.

In addition, according to the presentation, the volume of rail freight transportation will stabilize at 9.56 million tons per month and the volume of freight transportation on Danube ports at 1.5 million tons per month in July-August.

The minister emphasized that the development of logistics capacities to expand Ukraine's export-import capabilities is one of the important elements of the Ukraine Recovery Plan.
