Dnipro’s Mayor Boris Filatov has tested the new trolleybus route No. 2 that links downtown Dnipro and the Parus-2 residential district, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
Filatov told journalists on Friday, December 15, that this route was closed 10 years ago and the catenary network dismantled. After restoration works, the length of the route has been increased to 25.2 kilometers. Eight new trolleybuses operate on the route.
The opening of the route was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the city’s tramline and the 70th anniversary of its trolleybus line. In total, 24.8 kilometers of catenary network was laid and pavilions at 41 stops reconstructed during the restoration of the route.
As reported, Dnipro and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have also signed a loan agreement for EUR 10 million, which will allow the city to purchase 50 new trolleybuses and fully upgrade its rolling stock.
