Forty thousand residents of Kyiv took refuge inside Kyiv subway stations during the Russian missile attacks on the city on 29 May.

Viktor Brahinskyi, the head of the Kyiv subway’s operator Kyivskyi Metropoliten, announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

"There were over 9,000 people inside subway stations, including 1,120 children, during the air raid alerts tonight. The enemy attacked the capital city again during the day. This time, over 41,000 went down into the stations," he said.

Brahinskyi added that thousands of people have taken shelter inside subway stations at night for practically half of May because of air raid alerts.
