The first batch of 11 used Vevey low-floor trams have been sent from the Swiss city of Bern to Lviv.
The Lviv City Council announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
This batch includes two low-floor trams, which were repaired and inspected before being sent.
The trams are expected to arrive in Lviv next week and start operating on the city's routes around next month.
Lviv expects to receive four more Bernese trams by the end of the year. The city is expected to receive the remaining five trams in March 2025.
"There is no need to modify the trams, as the tram infrastructure in Lviv and Bern is compatible, as both cities have the same track gauge," said Oleh Zabarylo, head of the Department of Urban Mobility and Street Infrastructure at Lviv City Council.
The electric trams will be tested and certified in Ukraine before being deployed on Lviv routes.
