The Infrastructure Project Financing state enterprise (Fininpro) has signed an agreement with Altis-Construction LLC for construction of a new airfield at the Dnipro International Airport at a cost that is 30.6% lower than the expected cost.
The Ministry of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
"An agreement has been concluded with the general contractor for construction of a new airfield in Dnipro. The company will perform the construction work for UAH 3.95 billion, which is 30% less than the expected cost of the work, which was UAH 5.7 billion," Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklyi said.
According to Kryklyi, preparatory work began at the facility in September last year to ensure that the airport continues operation during the construction work. A private investor called NS Dnepr company began building new passenger and VIP terminals at that time.
The following companies also participated in the tender for construction of the airfield: Ozaltin, SMT No. 8, Rostdorstroy, Black Sea Consortium, Avtomagistral-Yug, and Altcom.
A runway with a length of 3.2 kilometers is planned for construction at the Dnipro airport. According to a government expert review, the project will cost UAH 6.23 billion.
The construction period is about three years.
The government has allocated UAH 1.4 billion for financing the construction of the airfield this year.
