Defexpo India, an international exhibition of arms and military equipment, has opened in India. Ukraine’s Antonov aircraft manufacturing concern will present its products at the exhibition, focusing mainly on the An-132 aircraft, the press service of Antonov announced.

"Antonov’s future projects could become the basis for further development of the fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and India in the aviation industry. The new An-132 multi-purpose transport aircraft with a payload of up to 9.2 tons is being proposed as the replacement for the An-32 aircraft that is well known in India," the press service said.

India is the largest operator of the An-32 aircraft. Antonov is developing an improved An-132 model to replace them. The project is being implemented in cooperation with partners from Saudi Arabia.

In addition, Antonov intends to cooperate with India in supplying aircraft based on the platform of the An-148/An-158 aircraft family. The newest aircraft in this family is the An-148-300MP, which is intended for performing maritime patrol tasks.

In addition to the An-132, the Ukrainian company will display the new An-178 transport aircraft. It was presented at the Dubai air show in November 2015.

The Defexpo India exhibition has been held since 1999 under the auspices of the Indian Ministry of Defense and the Confederation of Indian Industry. New land and naval weapons are displayed at the exhibition. More than 500 companies attended the previous Defexpo India exhibition.
