The Boryspil airport handled 3,396,944 passengers in the first six months of 2021. This is 35% more than the number of passengers it handled in the same period in 2020, the CFTS portal reports.
The number of passengers that he airport handled in June this year (938,674) is 1,839% more than the number it handled in June 2020. The airport handled only 48,400 passengers in the same month in 2020 due to strict quarantine restrictions.
The increase in the airport’s passenger volume in the first six months of 2021 was due mainly to non-scheduled flights, on which 157% more passengers traveled compared with the first six months of 2020. The number of passengers carried on regular flights fell by 6%.
The airport's passenger volume in the first six months of 2021 is still low compared with the pre-pandemic volume (the airport handled 6.7 million people in the first six months of 2019).
The number of transfer passengers traveling through the Boryspil airport reduced by 72.3% to 107,998 in the first six months of this year.
As the CFTS reported, the volume of passenger traffic through the Zaporizhia airport increased by 42% in June 2021, compared with June 2019, i.e., before the start of the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing flight restrictions.
