A new container train has been launched between Poland and China under the brand name China Railway Express. The train will operate between Warsaw and the city of Chengdu in southwestern China. This is the first train to be launched by the Chinese side, the CFTS reports, citing the Polish media.

The ceremonial welcoming of the China Railway Express from Chengdu took place at the PKP Cargo company’s intermodal terminal in Warsaw on Monday, 20 June. The train consisted of 22 80-foot platforms and a modernized EU07 locomotive. The train’s travel time from China to Poland was 12 days.

"We are rapidly developing our railway routes, terminals, and rolling stock," said Polish Railways’ CEO Mirosław Pawłowski. The ceremony was also attended by China’s leader Xi Jinping, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda, and Poland’s Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk.

As reported, PKP Cargo launched the first container train to China in October 2013. The train links Warsaw and Suzhou.

Another Polish company, Hatrans Logistics, launched a freight train on the Lodz-Chengdu route two years later.
