A tender for construction of a new road from the Bypass Road to the existing overpass near the Dry Port terminal in the Odesa seaport began on the ProZorro electronic auction platform on 11 September.

The tender is organized by the Odesa regional road service. The starting price is UAH 2.28 billion.

Applications to participate in the tender will be accepted until 12 October, and electronic bidding will take place on 17 October 2020. The deadline for completion of all the construction work is the end of 2022.

According to the tender documentation, the project also provides for construction of bridge structures and overpasses.

The new road will have a length of about 4.3 kilometers and require allocation of about 20 hectares of urban land. The project also includes construction of a large parking area for trucks and a platform for weighing vehicles in motion (WiM).

As the CFTS portal reported earlier, a meeting on reducing traffic congestion on local roads and building transport links to the Odesa seaport was held in Odesa on 6 July. The concept of building a highway from the fifth phase of the overpass at the Odesa seaport to the M-28 Odesa-Yuzhny Highway and a parking site for heavy trucks in the Suvorovskyi district of Odesa was discussed at the meeting. The Odesa city council issued a permit for constriction of the road to the seaport on 29 July.

The construction of the new road will complete a strategic program to move the Odesa seaport’s freight traffic out of residential areas. This program was launched in the 1990s.
