Contactless payment of fares has been introduced at all the subway stations in Dnipro, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Interfax Ukraine news agency.
"Turnstiles with contactless payment technology involving the use of bank-issued cards have been installed at four more Dnipro subway stations, namely the Metrobudivnykiv, Prospekt Svobody, Metalurhiv, and Zavodska subway stations. Passengers can now pay their fares with cards or smartphones at all subway stations," the subway said in a statement.
According to the statement, passengers have paid for more than 420,000 trips contactlessly in the two years since the installation of such turnstiles at the Vokzalna and Pokrovska subway stations in Dnipro.
The Dnipro subway is the second in Ukraine, after the Kyiv subway, to introduce payment of fares with cards or NFC-enabled devices directly at the turnstile.
