The volume of transportation of goods in container trains and Viking intermodal trains on the territory of Ukraine increased by 28% in the period of January-August this year compared with the corresponding period of 2015, the CFTS reports, citing data from the Ukrzaliznytsia public railway company.
In total, 45,945 containers (the equivalent of 20-foot containers) were transported in container trains. In particular, the volume of container transportation by the Dneprovets train (Odesa-Dnepropetrovsk-Liski-Odesa) increased by 55% to 3,323 TEU; the volume of container transportation on the Nikopol-Illichivsk-Nikopol route increased by 51% to 20,978 TEU; the volume of container transportation by the Podillia train (Odesa-Khmelnitsky-Odessa) increased by 5% to 980 TEU; the volume of container transportation by the ZUBR train increased by 35% to 990 TEU.
In addition, Viking intermodal trains transported 2,843 containers; 2304 were transported on the Khreschatyk route (Odesa-Kyiv-Liski-Odesa) and 3,868 on the Romania-Tolyatti-Romania route.
At present, 11 container trains operate on the territory of Ukraine.
As reported, transportation of that in January-July, the carriage of goods in container trains and Viking intermodal trains on the territory of Ukraine increased by 7% in the period of January-July, compared with the corresponding period of last year.
