The German rail carrier, Deutsche Bahn, has sent generators to the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) to enable the company to operate during electricity shortages caused by Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

This is stated in an article in the European Pravda publication, the CFTS portal reports.

The first batch of 63 generators was sent to Kyiv from a railway station in Hanover on Friday, and Deutsche Bahn plans to deliver an additional 325 smaller, emergency generators in January.

The generators are a donation to Ukrzaliznytsia.

Deutsche Bahn’s CEO Richard Lutz explained that the generators would be used to provide electricity and heating at railway stations and maintenance facilities, as well as to bridge the provision of lighting, heating, and hot water on trains.

The 325 emergency power generators that Ukrzaliznytsia will receive in January will be used to provide electricity to passengers and Ukrainian railway workers’ workplaces.
