The Deutsche Bahn railway operator (Germany) has said that it is unable to export Ukrainian grain at full capacity because of the European Union’s border bureaucracy.

The CFTS portal reported this, citing the FinanzNachrichten publication.

"We could travel even more if border crossing at the EU’s external border was faster," a company representative said.

He added that it was necessary to expand the infrastructure and speed up border procedures at the European Union’s external borders.

"In our opinion, centralized coordination – strategic and operational – will allow transportation of larger volumes of cargo by rail," the company said.
