Dnipro intends to reconstruct the existing airport terminal in the city and build a new terminal and a new runway via public-private partnership. This was announced by Dnipro’s Mayor Borys Filatov, the CFTS reports.
According to the mayor, there is a serious agreement on construction of an airport in the regional center, following the example of Kharkiv, but the agreement has not yet been concretized.
"The condition is public-private partnership. An investor will reconstruct the old terminal and build a new one with a capacity of up to 800 passengers per hour. The government is promising to provide funds for construction of a new runway and the entire flight infrastructure. The expected period is 1.6 years. Intense negotiations and preparation of the relevant documents is currently underway," Filatov said.
According to him, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Infrastructure, members of the parliament, the president of Ukraine, the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, the Dnipropetrovsk regional council, and the "current and future owners" are involved in the process.
Passenger traffic through the Dnipropetrovsk airport has fallen for four consecutive years.
