As part of the innovative TransANT project it is implementing in cooperation with its Austrian partners, the Dniprovahonmash railcar manufacturing plant (Dniprovahonmash JSC) has shipped the first MultiBox wagons intended for operation on the European Union’s railways.
The company announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.
The MultiBox wagons are currently undergoing the necessary tests for compliance with European standards.
According to the statement, Dniprovahonmash is already working on the fulfillment of the next orders for modular structures and wagons.
"Further development of the project, improvement of the production process, the broadening of the experience not only within the Ukrainian but also the European regulatory framework is an opportunity for the company to contribute to the development of the economy, strengthen ties, and increase its potential to export finished products," the statement said.
As the CFTS portal reported, earlier this year Serhii Tihipko's TAS Group, to which Dniprovahonmash belongs, acquired a 40% stake in TransANT GmbH (Austria), a developer of innovative freight cars. The company's other shareholders are the steel company Voestalpine and the freight division of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB Rail Cargo Group).
According to TransANT's presentation materials, MultiBox wagons can be of various lengths (11.5-16 m), depending on the customer's requirements. The thickness of the side walls and the floor of the wagons can also vary. As shown in the photo, the wagon also has a side hatch, which adds to the variability of loading/unloading operations.
