The Elektrontrans company (Lviv) has sent the final two of seven tramcars to Kyiv under a contract that was concluded in 2017, the Vezha publication reports. The tramcars were loaded onto platforms for transportation on Saturday, July 28. The tramcars were expected to arrive in Kyiv on Monday.
The new tramcars will perform trial runs over a period of one month. In addition, the Kyivpastrans municipal transport company will install its equipment, particularly its electronic ticket system, in the tramcars before the tramcars begin operating on Kyiv routes.
Five tramcars have already been delivered to Kyiv under the 2017 contract. Four of them are in operation on Kyiv routes and one is undergoing runningin and will soon begin operation.
As reported, Kyivpastrans concluded an agreement on purchase of trams worth UAH 300.99 million with Elektrontrans on June 26, 2017, based on the results of the relevant tender.
The low-floor Elektron T5B641 trams have a length of 30.2 meters and 60 seats. They are capable of autonomous operation over a distance of 1 kilometer. They are equipped with air conditioners, video surveillance systems, and information systems. They are also adapted for passengers with disabilities.
