The Estonian government has decided to lift the restrictions on the number of airlines and air routes between Estonia and Ukraine. This issue was considered at a government meeting on Thursday, May 19, the Interfax Ukraine news agency reports.
The agreement on organization of air links between the two countries was signed in 1993.
As reported, the Estonian airline Nordic Aviation will start operating direct flights between Tallinn and Odesa on 27 May 2016 in conjunction with Adria Airways.
The flights will be operated weekly on Saturdays with departures from the Tallinn airport at 15:30 and the Odesa airport at 18:20. One more flight will be added on Wednesdays in the period from 22 June to 24 August. The flight duration will be two hours and 15 minutes.
Adria Airways also operates flights from Kyiv to Tallinn.
A State Aviation Service commission recommended in late November 2015 that Ukraine International Airlines be issued permission to operate regular flights from Kyiv to Tallinn.
Italy and Poland lifted all restrictions on flights to Ukraine in March. The Open Skies principle entered into effect between Ukraine and the United States in January.
