The share of grain and milling products in the total volume of export cargo transported by the Ukrainian Railways joint-stock company (Ukrzaliznytsia) reached 55% in November 2022.

Valerii Tkachev, the deputy director of Ukrzaliznytsia’s commercial operations department, announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports, citing the Rail Insider publication.

"Grain and milled products (2.150 million tons) accounted for the lion's share (55%) of the total volume of export cargo transported by rail (3.894 million tons)," he said.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the total monthly volume of cargo transported by rail decreased by 1.5 million tons or 12.5% to 10.56 million tons in November, compared with October. The total volume of export freight transported by Ukrzaliznytsia reduced by 1.29 million tons or 24.9% to 3.894 million tons in November, compared with October.

In the same period, the volume of export grain cargoes transported by rail fell by 908,000 tons or 29.7%, and the volume of export iron ore transported by rail fell by 199,900 or 20.6%. The latter was because of a fall in the volume of steel production in Europe.

Iron ore was second with a 20% share (0.77 million tons) of the total volume of export cargo transported by rail, followed by ferrous metals with 7% (0.27 million tons), construction materials, and cement.
