LLC Ukrainian Locomotive Manufacturing Company is the first participant in the pilot project for allowing private locomotives to operate on some public railway routes.

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced this in a statement, the CFTS portal reports.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the company will operate private locomotives on nine railway stretches under the pilot project.

The Ministry of Infrastructure issued the relevant order on 26 August.

According to the order, LLC Ukrainian Locomotive Manufacturing Company will operate private locomotives on the following stretches of public railway routes:

Stryi – Ivano-Frankivsk

Ternopil – Shepetivka

Shepetivka – Kalynivka 1

Starokostiantyniv 2 – Hrechany

Starokostiantyniv 1 – Hrechany

Starokostiantyniv 2 – Kalynivka 1

Starokostiantyniv 1 – Kalynivka 1

Husiatyn – Yarmolintsy – Hrechany

Kamianets-Podilskyi – Humentsi – Balyn – Dunaivtsi – Yarmolyntsi – Hrechany.

LLC Ukrainian Locomotive Manufacturing Company’s Technical Director Volodymyr Krot was previously the executive director of the Lviv Railway, which is a division of Ukrzaliznytsia. According to the Railexpoua website, the company has 14 2M62 mainline diesel locomotives at its disposal.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the commission for selecting the participants in the pilot project considered 23 applications from 10 private companies. Seven applicants were selected.
