Resumption of direct flights on the Odesa-Varna route is one of the priority areas of development of transport links between Ukraine and Bulgaria.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Viktor Dovhan announced this after visiting Sofia on 30 June as part of a delegation headed by President Petro Poroshenko, the press service of the Infrastructure Ministry said.

In particular, Dovhan said that Poroshenko emphasized the importance of resuming the direct rail link between Kyiv and Sofia and the direct air link between Odesa and Varna.

As reported, Poroshenko and Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov earlier discussed the terms of construction of a highway from Odesa to Sofia and establishment of rail and ferry services between the two countries.

Poroshenko and Borisov also agreed to conclude an agreement on introduction of long-term, free Bulgarian visas for Ukrainian citizens.
